9. The total number of states Gov. Bill Richardson visited for official presidential campaign visits during the month of August. The tally is down from 12 states visited in July and 15 states (including the District of Columbia) in June. Of the nine states visited by Richardson in August, the governor spent less than two days in five, including three states (Texas, New York and Wyoming) in which he made only a single appearance.

Richardson attended at least 48 individual campaign events in Iowa during August (or nearly 60 percent of the approximately 81 official events held during the month). Richardson’s Iowa stops included getting a haircut at Sam’s Barber Shop in Audubon on Aug. 6, attending a United Auto Workers picnic in Marshalltown on Aug. 18 and serving as a “celebrity chef” in the Iowa Pork Producers tent at the Iowa State Fair in Des Moines on Aug. 14.
14. The number of days in which Gov. Bill Richardson made at least one official campaign appearance in Iowa during the month of August, by far the most out of any other state. The next closest state was New Hampshire, which Richardson visited for campaign events on at least four days, followed by three days each in California and New Mexico.
30. Number of “Presidential Job Interview” events Richardson attended in Iowa during the month of August, two more than the 28 combined events Richardson attended (all held in either Iowa or New Hampshire) during July.
35. The approximate number of Iowa cities and towns visited by Richardson for official campaign events during the month of August, nearly triple the number of cities and towns he visited in New Hampshire (12), the state with the next most visits, during the month.
