Hard News, Soft Dreams: A Journalistic Walk Across Borders
Date: February 22, 2008 The Forum; Length: 1 hr. 46 min.

In the politicized hysteria surrounding immigration, the Mexican people are painted in broadly simplistic terms by the press: as dangerous rogue criminals or as toiling victims deserving of American citizenship. But behind the politics, deeper truths are at play on our southern border. Join Alfredo Corchado, the Mexican Bureau Chief of the Dallas Morning News and 2007 Columbia School of Journalism Cabot Award Winner, and border photographer Erich Schlege winner of the World Press Photo Award, for a discussion on Mexico's border culture and peoples: their stories, their struggles and their hopes for the Americas.
