High Country News: Healing the Rift, Healing the Land
Date: November 9, 2007 The Forum; Length: 1 hr. 46 min.

The environmental movement is responsible for some of the most groundbreaking legislation of our time — but it has been also seen as the enemy of rural, land-based communities whose hand-to-mouth economies subsist on the use of diminishing natural resources. Changing realities are now bringing these traditionally warring communities together, and each side is recognizing the value of the other in fighting the greater enemy: corporate development of our public lands. Join Paul Larmer, publisher and executive director of the groundbreaking magazine High Country News, for a lecture on this maturing cultural and political movement.
