
There's Something About Bill: Dollars and Sense

From the latest campaign finance reports.
7th. Overall place of Bill Richardson in total fund raising out of all candidates running for the 2008 presidency, according to the latest (July 14) Federal Election Commission campaign finance records. As of June 30, Richardson had raised approximately $13.2 million—well behind overall leaders Hillary Clinton ($62.5 million) and Barack Obama ($58.6 million).
32. Approximate percentage of total campaign funds raised by the Richardson campaign in New Mexico alone. Richardson raised $4,177,293 from New Mexico donors as of June 30, representing 92 percent of all campaign funds raised by candidates in the Land of Enchantment.
$68, 462. Total campaign contributions made to John Edwards by New Mexico donors, the most of any candidate except Bill Richardson. Obama is third ($64,801) and Clinton fourth ($57,256) in money raised in the state. Rudy Guiliani has thus far been the most successful at raising money in New Mexico ($51,550) out of all Republican candidates.
69. Percentage of total campaign funds raised in New Mexico by Obama that came from the Santa Fe area, the highest percentage of any candidate that has raised more than $6,000 in the state. Bill Richardson has raised approximately $1.2 million in the Santa Fe area, or 29 percent of the total he raised in New Mexico.
$4,983,067. Total amount of “disbursements” (expenses) paid by the Richardson campaign during the last fiscal quarter (April 1 to June 30). More than half of those expenditures went to two companies, the Nexus Direct marketing firm ($1,285,607) and the nebulous organization known as The Campaign Group ($1,290,780).
$8,861.76. The amount paid by the Richardson campaign to the Millennium Biltmore Hotel in Los Angeles, the site of Richardson’s May 21 “official” announcement that he would seek the presidency.
$7,575. Amount paid by the Richardson campaign for speech-writing consultants during the last fiscal quarter, approximately one-sixth of the amount spent on fund-raising consultants ($44,097.58) and nearly the same amount spent on travel agent fees ($7,265).
