Tucked into a humble strip mall on Cordova Road is one of the most deliciously unique dining experiences this side of the Aegean Sea. The menu at Pyramid Café may appear exotic- merguez, moussaka and avgolimono to name a few- but even the most adventurous menu offerings are palatable to diners of all tastes and tolerances, and from toddler to geriatric.
The couscous supreme, for example, is a huge bowl filled to the brim with bright red Tunisian semolina topped with hunks of squash and carrot, finished with saffron tomato sauce. Sound scary? Hardly. Dig in and you'll find it's as modest and delicious as the stew your Grandma used to make, just with more compelling spice and fresher veggies.
For those who like to stick to more familiar international offerings, the vegetarian falafel plate comes with mid-Eastern staples done deliciously: tasty falafel, tender dolmas and plenty of hummus dominate a platter brimming with food. The gyro combo plate comes loaded with perfectly crispy pieces of lamb topped with traditional tzatziki sauce. Try some pita bread with the Mediterranean garlic-butter shrimp appetizer and you'll find yourself asking for more so as to luxuriate in the pool of melted butter.
The experience at Pyramid Café is rounded out by the comfort of the high-ceilinged dining room.
