At Santa Fe Mountain Sports, there are two seasons, neither recognized by the National Weather Association: No. 1 is snowboard and ski; No. 2 is bike. When these seasons roll around, the staff at SFMS can be found outdoors, hiking, biking and, most importantly, snowboarding. It’s the staff’s personal knowledge of the items they sell that makes SFMS a favorite, according to the store’s manager, Frank Wilwol. “We’re all outdoors people; we do the things we sell products for. We’re enthusiastic about it and interested in helping people enjoy those sports,” he says. But the staff’s adherence to recreation isn’t all hardcore athleticism; they really do enjoy it. “We’re in the business of selling recreation. It’s a fun business to be in,” Wilwol says.
