No layoffs at the PRC

By SFR Staff

According to Public Regulation Commission Chairman Sandy Jones, PRC staff say they can cut 2.5 percent of its budget, primarily nixing out-of-state travel and vehicle expenses. It can cut perhaps up to 3.5 percent in the next budget, Jones says.

PRC has 300 staff members and a budget of approximately $27 million.

Two-thirds of the PRC's budget goes to staff salaries. The good news: "We don't anticipate laying people off... The employees are in pretty good shape."

The bad news: "We're not going to have raises."
