It's Not Wrong To Be In Love With Your...Internet

By Alexa Schirtzinger

He didn't give you chocolate or flowers (unless you paid for them). He didn't take you to dinner or kiss you goodnight—but he gazed into your eyes, listened patiently to your neuroses and offered you fashion therapy, personality quizzes and Lolcats...

He's your Internet. And don't you love him? I mean, can you even remember the days when you had to disconnect your computer to call someone, and the whole thing would crash if you opened Oregon Trail at the same time as, well, anything? Sadly, some people still live that way.

"Depressed by dial-up?" reads the Twitter pitch for Feb. 15, the national day of action for the Show Your Love for Broadband campaign. The "SYL" initiative, as those in the know call it, is affiliated with the Center for Media Justice and the New Mexico Media Literacy Project. It's timed to get people involved in the the FCC's creation of a National Broadband Plan by March 17. To show support and add your input to the FCC plan, click here.
