Santa Fe Southern Railway may be packing its bags and moving out of the Railyard--but not without telling its side of the story.
---
Today, SFSR posted banners alerting the public to the reality of its departure from the Santa Fe Railyard: the loss of a long-standing lease allowing SFSR to operate its historic trains and greet customers from the trackside depot.
Carol Raymond, the president of Santa Fe Southern, says the city has put a hard deadline of May 12 on the end of the railroad's lease.
"They're being really mean about it," Raymond tells SFR.
She says SFSR is looking into other locations for its depot--none, of course, as ideal as selling tickets directly in front of its green and yellow trains--and is hoping something works out. The company expects to continue running trains out of Santa Fe.
