New Mexico has the second-highest teen birth rate in the nation, the federal Centers for Disease Control
yesterday. We came in behind Mississippi and ahead of Texas.
However, you have to dig a little deeper into the data (
) to see that New Mexico's teen birth rate has dropped 43 percent since 1991. Apparently that's when they started counting.
