The Farmers Market rules! And the best thing about our favorite food event is it happens every week (several times a week in summer!).
Smelling the viny aroma of fresh tomatoes, ogling perfect eggplants and fondling just-picked berries make every trip to the market a sensory overload. But sipping on hot coffee and nibbling on a pastry keeps shoppers from digging too deeply into their bags before they get home. The new market building at the Railyard is a dream come true for longtime market shoppers, and events, such as book signings and chefs’ demonstrations, continue to grow at the new location. It’s a beautiful space with tons of room for vendors and plenty of parking. And it allows the market to operate in the same space year-round, something we all appreciate.
The Southside market (in the Santa Fe Place parking lot near JC Penney), held Thursdays from 3-6 pm, makes it easy for Southside residents to stop by on the way home from work. And although the markets are vulnerable to criticism that they’re expensive, they have also made efforts to be more accessible, accepting WIC and EBT cards.
Now more than ever, the Santa Fe Farmers Market is one of the greatest things about living in the City Different.
