Though happy hours are popular at well-known Santa Fe destinations like the Cowgirl, many of the city's best end-of-the-workday deals remain well-kept secrets.
Despite its Plaza location, Thunderbird Bar & Grill (50 Lincoln Ave., 490-6550), flies below the radar. Every day from 4-6 pm and 9 pm until closing, Thunderbird offers nine local beers on tap for just $3 a pint, including the coveted La Cumbre Elevated IPA (Bud Lite and Coors Lite are also available for the same price). Each day boasts a different food special, including 50-cent chicken wings on Mondays, $2 sliders on Tuesdays and $3 green chile cheese fries on Thursdays. If you're pickier about your food than your beer, go for the $2 PBR drafts and $3 green chile mac & cheese, served daily from 3-6 pm and 8:30-9:30 pm at the Zia Diner (326 S Guadalupe St., 988-7008); if you're out with a group (or one serious beer lover), hit up Second Street Brewery (1814 Second St., 982-3030; Railyard: 1607 Paseo de Peralta, 989-3278) for $10.50 pitchers every Wednesday.
