Tucked away on a quiet side street not far from the train station is Andiamo! It’s billed as “a neighborhood trattoria,” and in a rare case of truth in advertising, that’s exactly what it is.
The restaurant, like many others, inhabits an old house. But somehow Andiamo! has managed to retain its homey feel. This is the kind of place you go to on a Tuesday night when you thought you were going to throw together some leftovers but you’re just too tired and it’s too hot and you can’t bear the idea of turning on the oven. And well, why bother? Were you really going to make crispy duck legs, tender spinach, crispy polenta and roasted turnips? I don’t think so. The pizzas cost $8-$10 and the pastas and meat plates all hover around $16.
If you order a salad, you can even get away with sharing an entrée. But don’t skip out on the wine here. The by-the-glass list is small but inviting, and you’ll find some real gems available by the bottle.
