1 The Critters & Me
1403 Agua Fria St.
505-982-5040
Literally a business that began off the back of a truck, The Critters & Me has grown and grown again to its current iteration on Agua Fria Street. But through its growth, the impetus behind the business has stayed the same: the need for safe and nutritional pet food. According to the store’s manager, Maureen Havey, owner Laura Moore’s extensive research on nutrition and background in homeopathy led her to believe “animals that have optimum nutrition do not succumb to animal illnesses” as those fed otherwise can.
“Our thought is to spend more money on the nutrition, so you spend less trying to heal them later,” Havey says. Accordingly, the store doesn’t carry foods with corn, wheat or soy since those fillers, Havey says, are often allergy-causing and genetically engineered. And these various considerations are only the tip of the iceberg. Fortunately, the store’s staff offers free consultations so you can always find exactly what you and your pet need.
