It is the state’s oldest microbrewery and Santa Feans also think it’s the best. The fact that Santa Fe Pale Ale is actually brewed in Santa Fe is deeply satisfying, but that’s not what we love about this beer. It’s just really freakin’ good.
One thing that makes Santa Fe Brewing different is bottle conditioning—a secondary fermentation that occurs in the bottle—which gives the beer a gentle carbonation and rich flavor. We like the fact that not all of the beers are on tap all of the time. In the winter, we appreciate the deep, intense Santa Fe stout while we can get it. And in the summer, the Freestyle Pilsner sure cools down a hot day. We like to have a pint and a brewmaster burger for dinner, then take home a growler to enjoy with friends.
Of course, that’s only on a night when we’re not there to see the Cowboy Junkies or English Beat or Syd Masters and the Swing Riders. The beer is just one of the things that makes the Brewing Company one of Santa Fe’s finer attractions.
