Dinner at Steaksmith is a delightful indulgence in a nearly forgotten era. You’ll never see this dining room profiled in Dwell or the entrées written up in Cooking Light. Which is just fine with us.
We come here to disobey our doctors’ orders and live a little. We like to drink too many martinis and eat too many beer-battered shrimp in the lounge and then order gigantic slabs of prime rib. We ask for extra butter on our baked potatoes and, when that’s not enough, we get sour cream and smoosh it in with the butter and then sprinkle the whole steamy mess with more black pepper.
And then, just when we’re considering gastric bypass surgery, we order another round (minus the designated driver—hey, somebody’s got to take one for the team) and consider dessert. Bread pudding? Yes, sir. Chocolate cheesecake? One, please! Sour cream apple walnut pie with extra whipped cream? You don’t have to twist our arms! Nobody does self-indulgence like Steaksmith.
