For 45 years, Harvey Chalker and his wife Reserl have owned and operated Alpine Sports. In that time they've watched as skis have gotten shorter and shorter and the quality of boots better and better. Their longevity in the business is due in part to the knowledgeability of their staff members and their personal relationships with the sport and merchandise. The staff is full of skiers, even instructors, so they know what to look for when it comes to skis. "We test all skis before we buy them for the store," Harvey Chalker says.
"We don't buy what we don't like." Although the staff is full of experts, the store accommodates all skill levels. According to Chalker, because of El Niño, more moisture is expected this year; more moisture means more snow. So if you don't know how to ski, now is the time to start.
