It’s 5:30 pm on a Tuesday. You have $5 in your pocket and two screaming children in the back seat, and the only thing you want in the whole wide world is a margarita. Seems pretty dire, right?
Not in Santa Fe. Head to the Cowgirl BBQ, where the kids can run amok in the Kid Corral playground out back and that coveted margarita will only cost you a red-hot $3.50. If you’ve brought a friend (or are just really hungry), appetizers are two-for-one. Such is the magic of the best spot for happy hour in Santa Fe. From 3-6 pm and again from 10 pm to midnight, Monday through Friday, the powers that be at Cowgirl have taken pity on the work-weary masses. Cowgirl co-owner Nicholas Ballas has worked to create a laid-back haven for nine-to-fivers.
“We’ve always made a point of keeping it real here,” Ballas says of Cowgirl. “We like real people, we like our staff to be real, we like everyone to approach this like family.” So pull up a chair, shoot some pool in the Cowgirl Corner Pocket and enjoy an hour (or more) that is truly blissful.
