What do Santa Feans look for in a tattoo parlor? If their voting pattern in Best Of Santa Fe is any indication, it’s consistency. Ranked No. 1 for the fourth year in a row, Four Star Tattoo embraces the if-it-ain’t-broke-don’t-fix-it philosophy and does “pretty much the same as we’ve already been doing,” according to owner Mark Vigil. That means the parlor’s five enthusiastic artists work to deliver the best quality tattoos and consistent customer service and, in doing so, have won over the loyalty of ink aficionados throughout the community, many of whom turn to Four Star when they have a big project in mind. According to Vigil, “There’s a lot more large-scale work being done. People are more educated about the type of work they can get done, and bigger work is becoming more accepted.” To fill this demand, Vigil plans to open an additional shop in Albuquerque that focuses primarily on custom and large-scale work.
