Body Santa Fe seems to be expanding at an exponential rate if you simply list all the new projects to arrive within the next couple of months: culinary school (raw, vegan, farm-to-table), boutique gym, lounge, men's boutique, new yoga studio and chai garden.
However, if you consider Body's history of steady growth (it has amassed a mailing list of 28,000 in just five years) along with the fierce energy and drive of founder Lorin Parrish ("You can tell I love what I do?it's like candy"), then everything seems to be right on schedule. Also, no need to worry about Body physically taking over Santa Fe: All the new projects fit in and around the existing sustainably run premises. Body is more than just yoga. According to Parrish, "Body was created as a paradigm" to model both sustainable and compact living?so much happening in a small space means less fossil fuel is used.
Body also is a business model that shows "there's not a need for designating something as 'profit' or 'nonprofit' if we live in the middle." Living in the middle?the healthy, moderate middle?is what Body does very well and, after all, yoga is just one way to get to that healthy place. (Caroline K Gorman)
