The family of Margaret Salcedo, who was fatally mauled by four pit bulls in Truth or Consequences April 24, plans to deliver a petition to the 7th Judicial District Attorney's office Thursday demanding a grand jury be convened to consider charges against the dogs' owner.
The four dogs allegedly belonged to former T or C policeman John Hardiman, who had experience training guard dogs, according to his resume. One was shot at the scene and the other three were taken into custody at Sierra County Animal Control and euthanized in late April or early May, according to Christina Salvato, manager of Sierra County Animal Control.
Meanwhile, 7th Judicial District Attorney Clint Wellborn writes SFR in an email that the incident is "still under investigation" and that "no decision [regarding charging] has been made at this time."
