Dear Jawbreaker,
Hi. It's me, your friend Alex. I've been listening to your music for a long time now. Since high school. I can't really say anything bad about you guys except for this whole not being a band anymore thing. Let's face it, you were so ahead of your time, and I think that a lot of these "punks" that play music now don't realize how amazing you are and the impact you've had.
In particular, the album
Dear You
is truly an accomplishment of epic proportions. Songs like "I Love You So Much It's Killing Us Both" or "Accident Proned" really do it for me. These are some of the first love songs I have heard that don't blame the other person, but rather take responsibility for your own psychoses and fucked up-ness.
In this modern day world of watered down so called "punk-rock", it feels wonderful to go back, put on one of your records, and listen to something that brought me so much comfort and hope, so many awesome nights, and inspired me so deeply.
What I am proposing is that you all put aside your differences and come back. Seriously. There are a lot of people in the world who would freak for the chance to see you. I realize you're all busy with your other projects, and as I am to understand it you're not on the best of terms. I would settle for one reunion tour. Think of the new generation of people who would come to see you play! It would be incredible and moving. Or you could write a new album. I miss you. I need you. Music needs you.
Your friend and fan,
Alex
