Earth Care's Food and Coat Drive to benefit homeless youth begins Monday, Nov. 14 and runs for one week.---
The program benefits Santa Fe Public Schools Adelante Program for homeless youth. Adelante works with teenagers and kids living in shelters, transitional housing or with someone besides their parents. The program provides free tutoring, referrals for various social services, food programs and other help.
Adelante currently serves about 1,300 kids. According to Earth Care, about 8 percent of Santa Fe public school students are in one of the above living situations.
Adelante especially needs white rice, dry pinto beans, canned fruit, pasta and peanut butter. Below are the drop off points:
