We've been sitting on the info for, like, a pretty long time—which has been hard—but we can finally drop hot knowledge on all y'all when it comes to the music lineup for this year's
AHA Festival of Progressive Arts
!
Formed seven years ago, the After Hours Alliance (that's where the AHA comes from) represents the hopes and dreams of local artists, musicians, promoters, craftspeople, etc. and was created to give culture-seeking Santa Feans more to do at night (and in the day, to be fair) with the AHA Fest being the crown jewel in their offerings.
Each year, tons of bands from across the country apply for consideration, but only the chosen few attain immortality and superstardom beyond their wildest dreams. Or, y'know, they play a set at the annual event which is always held in the Santa Fe Railyard. Recent years have included expanded programming such as Art of the Machine, a spinoff which has spawned super-cool sculpture, car art, massive tarot projects and more.
As for this year, music program director Johnny Bell is psyched. You may know Bell as the banjo-ist from weirdo freak-folk/Americana band Cloacas. "I'm really excited about this year's lineup," he tells SFR via Facebook chat. "It really demonstrates the diversity of Santa Fe's music scene, and it highlights the caliber of artist that our scene is able to attract."
This year's schedule includes Americana, rock, punk, singer-songwriter types, indie-rock, pop and more, and it all goes down from 1-8 pm on Sunday Sept. 17 in the Santa Fe Railyard (that's right at Paseo de Peralta and Guadalupe Street) for free, and you know SFR will have more on this local happening as we get closer.
Here's what the fest's music lineup is looking like as of right now. Plan accordingly:
