Deputy stays free
Bernalillo County Sheriff's Deputy David Priemazon is free until his trial for charges related to using excessive force after a chase earlier this year. Prosecutors say the 15-year veteran kicked a suspect in the face, fracturing bones. Priemazon will be allowed to carry a gun for a private security job and to be around alcohol, but not to consume it. Those two things are generally forbidden for defendants who await trial.
Gun show
Democrat Xochitl Torres Small pulled out the hunting rifle for her latest campaign ad. It's not often you see Democrats showcasing firearms on the campaign trail, but Torres Small wants to win the 2nd Congressional District, which Republican Steve Pearce has held for years. The number of Democrats has been growing in recent years, but Donald Trump won the district handily in 2016.
A haul
The Drug Enforcement Administration does a lot of work when the Southwest Chief train stops in Albuquerque. Last week, agents hauled in a bag containing 45 pounds of the highly lethal painkiller fentanyl. A main was transporting it to New York.
Found

Beer to the victors
New Mexico's well-documented craft beer industry consistently punches above its weight, and the recent Great American Beer Festival in Denver was no exception, as a handful of brewers won medals. Locally, Rowley Farmhouse Ales took home a silver for its Germophile weisse beer.
Devotchka
If you've ever heard Devotchka, you're in for something new. Their klezmer-esque sound gives them an edge that made them a staple of indie touring sets over the last decade or so. They roll into Meow Wolf this evening. Tickets start at $25.50.
Rosa
The remnants of Tropical Depression Rosa will bring widespread cloud cover today and cooler temperatures. Expect highs in the mid-70s if you're in Santa Fe, low 80s in Albuquerque. As far as rain, the best chance will be this afternoon into tonight in the western half of the state. Clouds should peel away tomorrow evening, but it'll be an active week with maybe even a chance of mountain snow over the weekend.
Thanks for reading! The Word hopes you got to see the aspens last weekend, because after that first snow, all that gold is done for till next year.
