Voters who want to cast an early ballot have until 5 pm today to visit the city clerk's office on the second floor of City Hall, 200 Lincoln Ave.--
City Clerk Yolanda Vigil said this morning that more than 300 people voted at her office Thursday, and she expects today to be busy.
Early voting seems to be gaining popularity, she said, noting about 1,900 people have already voted in election and another 1,000 absentee ballots went out in the mail. That' compared to about 1,100 who voted early and about 700 absentee ballots in the 2010 election, the last city contest to feature a mayor's race.
If you registered to vote by Feb. 4 and live inside the city of Santa Fe, you're eligible to vote today or March 4, when polling places around the city will be open from 7 am to 7 pm. Vigil says voters should note that polling places for the city election are sometimes different than ones used for statewide primary and general elections.
