Santa Feans make their New Year's resolutions.
***image10***I have three resolutions. I want to run a marathon in under four hours. I want to do an Olympic triathlon (a 1.5-kilometer swim, a 40-kilometer bike ride and a 10-kilometer run) in under three hours. I'm about 40 minutes off on both of those, by the way. And, I want to make sure the northwest master plan gets completed this year.
-City Councilor Matt Ortiz
***image9***I would like the New Mexico Legislature to give Santa Fe County the money it needs for its election system. My personal hope for the new year is that the election cycle goes so well and everyone behaves themselves, that all of us have time to have a nice garden this summer.
-Santa Fe County Bureau of Elections Chief Deputy Clerk Denise Lamb
***image7***I want Santa Fe to be a kinder, gentler place, and I vow to do my part in that. Personally, I want to spend time with my wife and kids and not work so much. And also, my resolution is to jump in a lake. I've lived here for too long, and I've only jumped in two New Mexico lakes. It's ridiculous.
-Developer Don Wiviott
***image5***My resolution is to find the time to recognize that the roses are blooming, take the time to smell them and make the time to share them with other people. The other resolution is to make this my last public New Year's resolution!
-Police Chief Beverly Lennen
***image2***As complicated as life is, I just wish to be a better person. It's that simple. People like to be all philosophical, but I just wish to be a better person. 'Cause I can be a sonofabitch. Some people like chocolate. Others like bourbon. But I love women. I am just like my father and my grandfather. I just wish to be a better person. It's the same resolution every year. 'Cause I can be a sonofabitch.
-Guardian of the Sena Plaza Parking Lot, Ardry Adams
***image1***I resolve to stay as completely artistically inspired as I can. I resolve to lobby the city to put actual cool stuff in the Railyard, like rehearsal spaces, performance venues and a real hot salsa bar. I resolve to shave my Christmas beard (which I'm growing right now). I resolve to play the guitar faster. I resolve that my album will come out and my band, Amazing Larry, will hit the road to try and make a difference.
-Musician Andy Primm
***image6***One is to the help the governor get re-elected. That's very important. The other is to get my album out. I've been doing music for 30 years now-rock and roll-and I've got everything done on this album. I used to play in a band back in New York. We played a lot of good concerts: Central Park, Woodstock II…I've played with Sting's lead guitarist, Peter Yarrow, Pete Seeger. And you thought I was just a master spinner! Hopefully, this year I'll have the time to finish up the album.
-Deputy chief of staff for Gov. Bill Richardson, Billy Sparks
***image4***Actually, its been a tough year in terms of health for a lot of people I know…friends and family. We've been through a lot, and so have a lot of people we know. So it sounds just kinda corny, but I'm just wishing better health for some people I'm close with and continued health for everyone.
-Cowgirl co-owner Barry Secular
***image8***
I want a flying limousine…and, uh, two big-tittied girls.
-DJ King George
***image3***First things first. Next year, I will help Santa Fe to elect a mayor of reputable knowledge and integrity. Other than this, I will figure out in which direction I should further my education so that I can be a more effective advocate of social change, and also because I love paying off college loans. I also plan to learn to manage my time better, watch the
Daily Show
more often and get those blasted mice out of my apartment.
-Becky Lo Dolce, operations co-ordinator for mayoral campaign of City Councilor David Coss
