Santa Fe's noisiest and arguably most prolific artist collective, Meow Wolf, is turning 2 this month. Anyone who's slid by the group's warehouse space at the corner of Hopewell and Second Streets knows that most of its exhibits are made from items cast off by society at large; piles of dead bees, yards and yards of mardi gras beads, bent bike wheels and more. One man's trash is another man's treasure, indeed, as the artists of Meow Wolf consistently make beauty out of what stupider people wouldn't look at twice.
A number of events by way of grand celebration are in order, the biggest of which is a group show, open to anyone and everyone who would like to submit work. In the words of member Caity Kennedy, Meow Wolf is "accepting work till we run out of room." Considering the group's 2000-square-foot warehouse space is quite on the cavernous side, chances are there's room for your work too.
For information on submitting artwork, hop over to MW's
on the topic. While you're at it (clicking links, that is), MW's
is super-spiff and very cool.

Other cool events this month include a dance party at the VFW to celebrate the opening of
the very first production from Meow Wolf Theater, opening on Friday, Feb. 26.

The folks from MW probably explain
The Moon is to Live On
better than I can, so, in their words:
"
Robert Davis is 30 years old. He hates his job with Old Spice. He is not happy with his marriage. And he is not ready to have a kid. Sea Serpents swim in swelling waves. Horseboy chooses a colored leaf. Druids roam jagged forests. And a woman trades her nose for an ear. Something's gotta give. We invite you to join us inside the world of Robert's nine-to-five psyche to experience the environments of his sub-conscious and witness the creatures that dwell within his dreams. Meow Wolf presents THE MOON IS TO LIVE ON, a multi-media, multi-dimensional theater production that bursts the barriers of the black box and emerges as a massive, story-based, sequential art installation. This original, one-of-a-kind production brings together the unique talents of over 30 Santa Fe artists to produce this unparalleled performance extravaganza that you simply cannot miss.
