"We're breaking records right now," Santa Fe City Clerk Yolanda Vigil said, staring at the line of people waiting to cast an early city elections vote on Friday afternoon.
Two hours short of the 5 pm cut-off time, Vigil passed out Dum-Dums to the 40 or so people waiting to vote. "We don't want you to faint," she joked.
As of 3:30 pm, 2,211 Santa Feans had cast their vote for the March 4 municipal election. A stark increase from the last mayoral election in 2010, when Vigil points out, 1,116 early votes were recorded.
