This just in from Gov. Bill Richardson's office: New Mexican drivers will get to choose between the traditional license plate and the new turquoise one. According to the press release:
But no one, it seems, wanted to just junk the turquoise plate.
“The people have spoken. They have not only welcomed the new Centennial license plate, but have a very nostalgic attachment to the classic yellow plate,” Richardson says via e-mailed press release. “Therefore, I am directing the Motor Vehicle Division to issue both the old yellow and the new turquoise as New Mexico's standard official license plates.”
