So here they are: Our 40 favorite restaurants. These are not the 40 fanciest, most popular or even best-known. We came up with this list by asking ourselves: "Where do we eat?" not "Where would we love to eat if someone else were paying?" or "Where do the cool people eat?" These 40 are the restaurants where we regularly spend our hard-earned cash, places like Bumble Bee's where we hit the drivethrough for a quick burrito, or The Teahouse, where we meet friends for a Sunday morning cup of tea anda scone. That's not to say the list is made up entirely of budget offerings. For many of us, eating out is a special occasion on its own. Some of our favorites, such as Tulips and Geronimo, are places we choose for our most special occasions.
Others, like Tomasita's, Counter Culture, Mariscos La Playa and Harry's Roadhouse, are homes-away-from-home. These are the joints that remind us why we live here. Their

consistency, high quality, laidback atmosphere and affordability exemplify the best qualities of our restaurant scene.
Santacafé, our Restaurant of the Year, is another one of those perfect examples. For decades, Santacafé has served innovative food with the Southwestern and Asian influences we crave. Lunch here is inexpensive and quick enough that some of us make it a once-a-week habit, and dinner is always a memorable event. This is the type of dining experience we love to see thrive in our city.
Thank you to these 40 and the many more Santa Fe restaurants that keep our tummies full, our hearts warmed and our souls soothed.
