Santa Fe County voters will decide next month whether to continue a property tax that funds construction and remodeling of Santa Fe Public Schools facilities.

Santa Fe County will administer the election Feb. 7. The bond would tax homeowners at $2 per $1,000 of net taxable property value for 2012 through 2017.
The money obtained can be used for construction, land purchase, building maintenance, plus computer and vehicle purchases. It can't be used for teacher salaries.
SFPS is still contemplating how to spend $20 million of money from a previous bond election to best benefit Agua Fria Elementary School. SFPS Board of Education member Steve Carrillo has previously criticized the administration for focusing more on construction projects than on educational goal-setting for the struggling district.
