A few highlights from around the city to keep your weekend exciting.
Friday--Pots and Panoramas
Silver Sun Gallery (656 Canyon Road)
4:30-7:30 pm
This exhibit is only open through Aug. 7 with regular gallery hours, so hustle on over. There are two artists at work here: Anita Ginocchio debuts unpretentious, natural-looking clay pottery in tandem with Lee MacLeod, a painter specializing in oil landscapes--many of which feature southwest scenes.
Saturday--Herself Rising: Girls on Trapeze
Peñasco Theatre (15046 Hwy. 75)
7:30 pm, $10
A memoir comes to life as seven women explore their histories and experiences in the field of acrobatics (if you guessed it’s a hard skill to excel at, you were right), and share stories of the women who came before them. A fair warning: you may find yourself aching to join a troupe after the show. Our advice? Talk it over with a few of the talented ladies from the Girls on Trapeze before committing to such a career.

Sunday--From Zimbabwe to Santa Fe
The Screen, Santa Fe University of Art and Design
1600 St. Michael’s Dr
2 pm, $10
An encore showing of the inspiring documentary that won both the "Jury Award" and "Audience Favorite" awards at the Riverside International Film Festival. From Zimbabwe to Santa Fe is the captivating tale of Sindiso, Gogo and Matron, Zimbabweans who seek to improve conditions in their native village by adventuring to (bet you didn’t guess this) Santa Fe to sell baskets, despite countless hardships and challenges along the way.
