A WINDOW EXCHANGE
Every Monday subscribers download another short and sweet ambient video. Ranging from 26 seconds to a touch over a minute these artworks are meditative snippets of life. "Day As A Monkey" features color-changing, computer-generated shadow-puppet like monkeys climbing along a branch. "Poolsofbloo" looks like a visual representation of a sound wave with flowing hues of blues, sometimes so overexposed to be come pure white. It sounds simple, because it is simple. Whether it's wind through branches or a railroad crossing, the sedate images light up a computer screen for just enough time to chill you out during a busy stressful day.
VIDEO ART BY IAIN FORSYTH AND JANE POLLARD
Ultra-hip British video collaborators Iain Forsyth and Jane Pollard have a small sampling of their work available for free and legal download. "Anyone Else Isn't You" is a confessional-style, black-and-white video in which young people talk honestly about music and how it can make or break a relationship. These twentysomething self-labeled music fascists aren't afraid to judge a potential lover based on exactly
which
Velvet Underground album is cherished and warn us all that admitting to loving the Beach Boys might not be the best idea when getting to know someone.
THE 4 YEARS IN THE 3RD MILLENNIUM PROJECT
www.the4yearsinthe3rdmillenniumproject.tk
Phillip Schulze's artistic endeavor began March 30, 2005. His goal is to place a new piece of artwork online daily for four years. The feeds include avant garde videos, some featuring bar patrons, others close-ups of buildings or inanimate objects. Though mostly a video piece, there are days when all Schulze outputs are mp3s of either experimental music, white noise or mumbled German. As an extra bonus for Mac OSX 10.4 users he's created a widget to keep up with the project. If you're not that high tech yet, you can still subscribe the old-school iTunes way.
