New Mexico's new ad campaign, "New Mexico True," is making news--but it carries echoes of 2006, when Anheuser-Busch ran its "Budweiser True" campaign.
---
As SFR and other news outlets have reported, this week, the New Mexico Tourism Department unveiled the results of a $2 million contract for creating a new ad campaign and image for the state.
The ads center around the slogan, "New Mexico True," posing true/false questions that are intended to reveal the state's unsung positive attributes.
But in 2006, Budweiser ran a campaign based on a similar slogan: "Budweiser True." (You may recall the "Wassup?!" ads that ended with that slogan; click here to watch one.)
SFR left messages with Anheuser-Busch and with Vendor Inc., the Austin, Texas-based company that created New Mexico's new campaign, but did not immediately hear back.
