When David Fellers, who had cerebral palsy, passed away in 2008 at age 30, his family formed the David Fellers Healing Art Foundation to provide financial and medical assistance to people living with disabilities and in extreme poverty. In an art show and sale featuring donated works, the Fellers family hopes to raise funds for a clinic in Nicaragua.

Every museum is only able to display a fraction of its collection at any given time. While it's a bummer that we can't always see it all, this also makes exhibitions of the hidden treasures all the more exciting. In Material World: Textile Treasures from the Collection, the Museum of International Folk Art displays 138 items selected from over 20,000 objects usually kept under lock and key.

Sharon Core is a dedicated artist. Sure, she works for hours to create dioramas from tableware and botanicals that mimic still-life paintings from the 1800s, but that's not the most of it. She went so far as to grow her own fruits and vegetables in a refurbished greenhouse so she could have just the right size, shape and color to include in her photographic replicas of Raphaelle Peale's oil paintings. That's hardcore.

A PRAIRIE NIGHT COMPANION
Painter Jerry West has been working on various aspects of the film Prairie Night for upward of 50 years; between sounds he recorded in the '50s and '60s, and visuals captured by Steina and Woody Vasulka in the early '80s, the video is an intense exploration of the effect of dreams and memory on West's paintings.
