"Local luminaries" beware! Fiesta Melodrama's back and ready be staged starting Aug. 28 at the Santa Fe Playhouse, with guns a-blazing. This year's iteration is better and bigger than ever, says director Andy Primm, who alongside prairie dog enthusiast Eliot Gray Fisher is Melodrama's mastermind.
What surprises can we expect in this installment?
This show is going to be bigger, better and classier than ever! This is because we are so lucky that GASPAC Enterprises, straight out of Vegas, has purchased the entire show so Santa Fe can see how showbiz is really done: bright lights, pretty girls, a real, live video screen and a 10-piece orchestra conducted by Karles McQuade from the Santa Fe Youth Symphony.
Fiesta Melodrama is known for pulling no punches. Have you guys ever gotten in trouble?
No. The Melodrama has, of course, never, ever, ever gotten in trouble. We would have, every year, but that's why the writers are anonymous. And as for me, as soon as the wonderful representatives from GASPAC threatened to release those photos of me to the press, I said I would be delighted to direct the show.
