Old Tricks
For Javier Gonzales, traveling on the taxpayers' dime is nothing new. In the mid-1990s during his first two years as Santa Fe County commissioner, he took 22 trips, which cost taxpayers $16,000. After those trips became known, he seemed to cut back on his travels considerably, not wanting to damage his public image. He also claimed that it "is the duty and the responsibility of taxpayers to always question their elected officials on the use of public finances."
But then in 2001, during his second term as commissioner, taxpayers paid for 10 county staff members to accompany Gonzales to Philadelphia to attend his inauguration as president of the National Association of Counties.
Perhaps he'll only limit his personal use of government funds if he thinks that the media and the citizens are paying attention. So let's do what he suggested long ago and continue to watch and question his (and all politicians') use/misuse of our taxpayers' money. Thank you, SFR, for keeping us informed.

Music, Nov. 19: “Note by Note”
Worth It
Yeah, as challenging as it can be, and as stressful as it often is at first rehearsals, the music eventually speaks to both the musician and the audience in a transcendent way that is just inexplicable. The music was performed in Los Alamos recently, and the response from the audience was wonderful.
