Broken System
Thanks for this story. Let's hope this kind of racist and wasteful operation is not propagated throughout the US. I'm working to support progressive candidates in local prosecutors races throughout the country, as I believe it's one of the few ways to start fixing our broken system.

Taking Advantage
Thanks, Aaron, for calling this out. Glad to hear Santa Fe city councilors could get some movement against this type of opportunist.

Property Rights?
Private landowners should have property rights. If someone can frack under your house and 5G apparatus can be installed on every block, you should have the right to rent your tent. And where do you expect poor/poorer people to go, exactly?

Ask the Gubmint
Private landowners do have many rights, but in balancing out what is good for a community as a whole, those rights should sensibly be limited. I expect the government to provide affordable housing.
