SUNRISE SPRINGS
242 Los Pinos Road, 471-3600,
Need an excuse to chill out a little bit? Sunrise Springs is hosting three formal tea ceremonies this weekend in honor of Peace Day, so call up your most stressed-out buddies and make a date. There will be two ceremonies on Saturday afternoon and one on Sunday, all led by Sen Soshitsu, a WWII kamikaze pilot turned peace activist. The cost is $20 per person. You're gonna need reservations, so call in advance. After the ceremony you can stick around for a Geisha Sunrise and some vegetable spring rolls in the Lotus Bar.
ABSOLUTE NIRVANA
106 Faithway St., 983-7942,
This spa and bed and breakfast has a quiet little garden where guests and spa clients often linger with tea and snacks. It is open to the public, but rarely frequented. If you're looking for a quiet, private place to sit and sip a cup, stop in here. They have 45 teas to choose from, almost all of which are organic. Although they're open from 10 am until 6 pm, they do sometimes close early, so call ahead. Don't miss the fresh scones and finger sandwiches.
HOTEL ST. FRANCIS
210 Don Gaspar Ave., 983-5700,
A longtime favorite, tea at the St. Francis got a recent revamp when the hotel decided to make the tea snacks to order instead of serving buffet style. The result? Fresher and more fabulous snacks. For $19 you get the whole shebang: a pot of tea, three kinds of finger sandwiches, three mini-pastries (like crème brûlée, chocolate mousse or a fruit tart) and apricot and cranberry scones, served with Devonshire cream and a pot of strawberry jam. For $9 you'll get just the tea and a scone or pastries. Served every day from 3 pm until 5:30 pm.
