Spring, dammit.
I had to scrape my car windows this morning. This is not the April I was promised. In defiance of the season I present a simple summer pleasure: a Pimm's cup. Add all the following ingredients to a highball glass full of ice and stir.
- 2 oz Pimm's No. 1
- 3 oz ginger beer
- 1 cucumber slice
- 1 quartered strawberry
- 1 orange slice
- 1 lemon slice
- 6 mint leaves
Let's FORK!
Did you see Photoville's public art project The Fence at the Railyard last year? They are coming back to Santa Fe July-September this year, and they've added a new category—FOOD!
The Fence is a large-scale traveling photography exhibition that reaches over 4 million visitors annually through exhibitions in Brooklyn, Boston, Atlanta, Houston, Santa Fe, Durham, and Denver.
Photographers of all levels are invited to submit work for consideration by the jury. The submitted work should fit one or more of 7 categories: home, streets, people, creatures, nature, play, and food. Deadline for submissions is April 11. Go HERE for more info on the process. Entry costs $45.
The Draft Station (60 E San Francisco St., 983-6443) has started ping pong tournaments on the last Tuesday of every month from 7-9 PM. Call or stop by and ask a bartender to sign you up. Admission is free and there are prizes. First place gets a $100 gift card; second, a $50 gift card; third, a 64-oz. growler.
The James Beard Foundation has been doing some great work to make the restaurant industry more open to women in an industry known as a bit of a boy's club. To celebrate Women's History Month, it ran a series of discussions and events to promote women in the industry. HERE is a wrap-up where they talk to a few of the participants about their experiences.
See you next week,
Michael
