For those of us who love food, Thanksgiving rules. But even foodies sometimes like to leave the cooking to the pros and actually sit down to dinner, well rested and well-dressed, at a
table they won't have to clear. So if you want to eat your Thanksgiving dinner at a restaurant this year, here's a short list of just some of the restaurants and hotels that will be serving Thanksgiving dinner. Call right away and make a reservation!
The
Blue Heron at Sunrise Springs
will be serving dinner on Thanksgiving Day from 11:30 am until 3 pm. Menu highlights include honey-roasted natural turkey with mashed sweet potatoes, cornbread stuffing, wild mushroom and nut casserole with miso gravy, corn pudding, roasted Brussels sprouts, pan-seared scallops with asparagus and spaghetti squash, in addition to an appetizer and dessert buffet. $38 for adults, $32 for seniors and $14 for kids (242 Los Pinos Road, 471-3600).
The folks at
Café Paris
plan to serve their regular menu in addition to a prix fixe turkey dinner that they say will include salad, appetizer, turkey and trimmings, and dessert, all for $40 (31 Burro Alley, 986-9162).
At
Café San Estevan
, you'll be able to order your favorite dishes from the menu or opt for a special Thanksgiving meal. Call for details and prices (428 Agua Fria St., 995-1996).
At
La Casa Sena
's turkey day feast, you'll be able to choose from dishes like seared tuna with dried cranberry and Napa cabbage slaw, ancho chiles and maple syrup, grilled pumpkin soup, toasted pecan and cascabel chile granita, maple and Chimayo chile-glazed free-range turkey with
huitlacoche
corn stuffing, whipped potatoes and green chile gravy, and pomegranate crème brûlée. It costs $65, and three wine flight choices are available for an extra charge (125 E. Palace Ave., 988-9232).
The Compound
will be open from 2 to 6 pm on Thanksgiving Day, offering a three-course prix fixe meal that costs $70 per person (kids can order a main dish and dessert for $20). Choices include warm duck confit salad, roasted kabocha squash soup, roasted organic turkey, cranberry sorbet and pumpkin tart (653 Canyon Road, 982-4353).
Over at
Coyote Café
, the chefs will be cooking up some Thanksgiving specials during special dinner hours, from 4 to 7:30 pm. Call for details (132 W. Water St., 983-1615).
Dinner for Two
does a particularly homey Thanksgiving service from noon until 8 pm. For $29 per person, you get a plate piled high with your choice of meat and sides. Then, servers tour the dining room with a carving board and offer you seconds on the meat or allow you to try a little of everything. They do the same with a dessert cart (106 N. Guadalupe St., 820-2075).
Las Fuentes at the Bishop's Lodge
is serving Thanksgiving dinner as a buffet from 11 am to 7 pm, with seatings every half hour. The buffet will offer four turkey, stuffing and gravy choices (like grilled turkey with wild rice dressing and prickly pear gravy) in addition to seafood and vegetarian choices. The buffet costs $58 for adults, $29 for children ages 5 to 12, and $48 for seniors 65 and older (1297 Bishop's Lodge Road, 983-6377).
Geronimo
will be open from 3 to 9 pm, serving a three-course meal that costs $85 per person. Call for details (724 Canyon Road, 982-1500).
At the
Hotel St. Francis
, kids will have their own buffet for $15, while grown-ups can expect a few more choices on the main buffet, which costs $50 per person. The buffet will be open from 1 to 5 pm (210 Don Gaspar Ave., 983-5700).
La Mancha at the Galisteo Inn
has a very interesting menu that boasts roasted fig marmalade, Spanish
queso azul
and rosemary bruschetta, cinnamon-roasted Amish turkey breast with green chile and Doritos (yes, Doritos) corn stuffing, crispy sweet potatoes and gravy. $55 per person (9 La Vega, Galisteo, 866-404-8200).
For an Italian Thanksgiving, head to
Osteria d'Assisi
, which is offering a $40 four-course dinner anchored by a choice of turkey, beef tenderloin, leg of lamb or salmon. Open from noon until 8 pm (58 S. Federal Place, 986-5858).
At
Rio Chama Steakhouse
, which will be serving from 11:30 am until 5:30 pm on Thursday, the Thanksgiving dinner is a three-course, $38 meal involving options like pumpkin bisque, buttermilk-roasted turkey, chorizo cornbread stuffing and, of course, prime rib (414 Old Santa Fe Trail, 955-0765).
Santacafé
's three-course prix fixe meal costs $40-$58, depending on the entrée you choose. When I called, they only had seatings available at 8 pm, but call and ask if they've had any cancellations. It happens (231 Washington Ave., 984-1788)!
Tulips
will serve an intimate $65 per-person dinner from 4 to 9 pm (222 N. Guadalupe St., 989-7340).
If you eat at
La Posada Hotel
, your party will get a whole turkey all to yourselves and you'll be able to take home the leftovers (330 E. Palace Ave. 986-0000).
La Fonda Hotel
is serving a buffet from 11:30 am until 3 pm. Expect dishes like sweet onion and chipotle deviled eggs, roast turkey with giblet gravy, baked ham, fresh cranberry relish, buttermilk mashed potatoes, candied yams, Grand Marnier-glazed carrots and pumpkin pie tart with cinnamon-nutmeg whipped cream. $45 for adults, $40 for seniors and $18 for kids under 12 (100 E. San Francisco St., 982-5511).
