T he Luminaria dining experience speaks to both of Santa Fe’s other names. Nestled near the historic Loretto Chapel, the beautiful, open-air patio offers quite possibly the most romantic dining experience in this City of Faith. From a tart yellow tomato gazpacho with avocados ($10) to rich, boneless ribs paired with huge, fresh scallops ($36) to a blood orange sorbet with sweet peaches and pear nectar ($10)—the cuisine is crafted with exceptional artistry and, when possible, made of locally sourced ingredients. The wine list hosts foreign, local and organic varieties, and the service is as smooth and thoughtful as the selection of food and drink. The delicious diversity of the menu makes decisions difficult, but for those who prefer a narrower guideline, a prix fixe menu is served from 5-6:30 pm, highlighting featured ingredients. Luminaria is, to say the least, a perfect taste of the unique cuisine that defines this little City Different.
