Government officials and military veterans gathered at the Santa Fe National Cemetery this afternoon for the burial of 13 vets whose bodies went unclaimed by family members.
Some may have been homeless at the time of their death, according to John Garcia,
New Mexico
's Veteran Services Secretary.

The veterans buried today were Carleton Crouch, Patrick Faudi, Patrick Ford, Norman W Stiver, Clovis Walker, William Arthur Bailey, Howard Fried, Lonnie Donald James, John Mercado, Lonnie Douglas Gregg, Carl N Peterson, Sr., James D Wroblewski and John Thompson.
Seven others were found when NMDVS cross-checked the Social Security Numbers of unclaimed remains held by Bernalillo County against federal Veterans Administration records.
