Over the weekend, state health officials announced 160 new COVID-19 cases—86 on Saturday and 74 on Sunday—bringing the total number to 1,245.
The state also reported seven new deaths over the weekend: one on Saturday and six on Sunday. This brings the total state COVID-19 fatalities to 26.
The Saturday fatality was a male in his 70s from San Juan County who was hospitalized.
The Sunday deaths were:
- A female in her 90s from Bernalillo County. The individual was hospitalized and had underlying medical conditions.
- A female in her 90s from Bernalillo County. The individual had underlying medical conditions.
- A male in his 90s from Bernalillo County. The individual had underlying medical conditions.
- A female in her 70s from Cibola County. The individual was hospitalized and had underlying medical conditions.
- A male in his 50s from Doña Ana County. The individual was hospitalized.
- A female in her 90s from San Juan County. The individual was hospitalized.
As of Sunday, 80 people have been hospitalized in New Mexico for COVID-19. That figure may include individuals who tested positive for COVID-19 out of state but are currently here, but does not include those who tested positive here but are hospitalized elsewhere.
As of today, the health department has designated 295 COVID-19 cases as having recovered.

- 1 new case in Quay County
- 22 new cases in Sandoval County
- 7 new cases in San Juan County
- 2 new cases in Santa Fe County
- 1 new case in Socorro County
- 1 new case in Valencia County
Sunday cases
There were 74 additional positive tests for COVID-19:
- 18 new cases in Bernalillo County
- 1 new case in Curry County
- 1 new case in Doña Ana County
- 1 new case in Eddy County

- 1 new case in Los Alamos County
- 4 new cases in McKinley County
- 1 new case in Otero County
- 38 new cases in Sandoval County

Statewide totals
On Saturday, a state news release said that case numbers reported on Friday, April 10, included one duplicate case in Bernalillo County; one case that had not been lab confirmed in Bernalillo County; and one case in Hidalgo County that has since been reclassified as a non-New Mexico case.
On Sunday, a news release said the case numbers reported previously, upon further investigation, included two Sandoval County cases that were counted twice, and one case in Doña Ana County that was counted twice.
The current list, according to the state, corrects those errors. County totals remain subject to change upon further investigation and determination of residency of individuals positive for COVID-19.

The Department of Health has detected community spread in Bernalillo, Doña Ana, McKinley, Otero, Sandoval, San Juan, and Santa Fe counties and is investigating cases with no known exposure.
