New Mexico health officials today announced 162 new cases, bringing the statewide total thus far to 9,526.
The new cases include 49 in McKinley County and 38 in San Juan County, both in the state's Northwest health region, which has been the hardest hit by COVID-19.
Bernalillo County had 18 new cases and the New Mexico Corrections Department had 13 more cases at the Otero County Prison Facility, which also has been hard hit and now has 275 cases.
Santa Fe County had four new cases. Of Santa Fe's total 165 cases, 106 have been designated as recovered. The county has had three deaths. The public can now check recovery numbers by county on the state's data dashboard.
As of today, 179 people are hospitalized and the health department has designated 3,983 cases as recovered.*
The state also reported six new deaths; New Mexico has now had a total of 426 fatalities. All six deaths were men: two in McKinley and San Juan counties each; one in Doña Ana County and one in Cibola County. All were either hospitalized or residents of a congregate facility.

- A male in his 70s from Cibola County who was a resident of the Good Samaritan Society facility in Grants.
- A male in his 60s from Doña Ana County who was hospitalized.
- A male in his 70s from McKinley County who was hospitalized.
- A male in his 80s from McKinley County who was a resident of Red Rocks Care Center in Gallup.
- A male in his 50s from San Juan County who was hospitalized and had underlying conditions.
- A male in his 80s from San Juan County who was a resident of the Cedar Ridge Inn facility.
