Healthcare workers in Santa Fe County, the first group that became eligible for a COVID-19 vaccine, have had the largest percentage of people fully vaccinated: 45%, with 75% having had at least one shot.
The data comes from a new state website tracking vaccinations by phases; the data in this story comes from early afternoon on March 12; figures on the dashboard update as vaccinations progress.
For people 75 years and older, in Phase 1b, 58% are at least partially vaccinated; 23% fully. In total, close to 11,000 people in that age category in Santa Fe County have registered for the vaccine.
Among educators—who were prioritized last week by the health department—63.7% have had at least one shot and 14% are fully vaccinated.
In the largest qualifying group in Phase1B, people with chronic conditions, 31% are at least partially vaccinated and 9.6% have had both shots. While there have been some vaccinations among groups not yet eligible, those are smaller by comparison: 17% of frontline essential workers have had at least one shot and those in later phases anywhere from 5 to 11.8%.
The figures only reflect vaccines among people registered through the state health department's registration website. The state estimates that accounts for approximately 60% of all vaccinations, with about 40% taking place through other providers.
Statewide, of the 722,507 people who have registered for a vaccine, 42% have had at least one shot and nearly 21% have been fully vaccinated. However, of those registrants, close to 70% fall into current eligibility groups and, taken together, close to 56% of members of Phase1A and the current groups in eligible in Phase 1B have had at least one shot.
According to the portal, registrants are counted in the first category for which they are eligible.
