The search for an interim city manager is over if city councilors approve Mayor Alan Webber’s latest appointment for the position.
On Friday afternoon, Webber appointed Tourism Director Randy Randall to the role. Communications Director Regina Ruiz tells SFR the mayor will also appoint the Tourism Department’s Marketing Director Jordan Guenther as interim tourism director. Randall also currently serves as the interim community development director after Rich Brown retired from the role in June. Ruiz says the city is “actively hiring” to fill the permanent community development director role.
On Oct. 22, outgoing City Manager John Blair announced his resignation. His last day with the city is Nov. 1. Webber initially appointed City Attorney Erin McSherry as the interim city manager Oct. 25, but withdrew the appointment days later at McSherry’s request.
Ruiz says Webber anticipates a “very short interim role” for Randall and Guenther and hopes to find a permanent city manager within 30 to 60 days. Per city charter, the mayor has 90 days to find Blair’s replacement.
Webber will hold a special governing body meeting that includes an executive session at 4 pm Nov. 4 to vote on the appointments. Ruiz says the mayor and appointees will not comment until after the City Council’s approval.
