The Department of Health used this photo in today's address, highlighting two teens who got a vaccine with a parent and earned $100 each.
New Mexico isn’t likely to hit its 60% vaccine goal by Thursday’s target date—but it is coming very close, with just 21,307 shots to go, health officials said in a public address today.
“Just get vaccinated is the message,” said Health Secretary Dr. Tracie Collins.
State officials have been pushing hard with a vaccine sweepstakes and $100 cash and gift card payments to those getting booster shots this week and seeking out individuals who received vaccinations out state to make sure data is as accurate as possible. (Check your data at vaxviewnm.org)

COVID-19 Press Conference
Currently, 67.7% of New Mexicans have had at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine and 58.7% are fully vaccinated. The rate varies drastically by the county, however, with Roosevelt County recording 28.2% vaccination and Los Alamos County with 80.8%. In Santa Fe County, 76% have had at least one dose and 66.5% are fully inoculated.
Though state officials have said previously they would lift public health restrictions on if the vaccine rate for the state reaches 60% by Thursday, Scrase and Collins with meet with their teams Friday to make decisions about “doing the right thing for the people of New Mexico” if the target is not achieved, Scrase said.
“If you are in a county where there is a high case rate, high test rate, be careful, be more cautious and encourage family and friends to get tested if they have symptoms and please don’t go to work if you are not feeling perfectly well,” he said, noting the evidence is strong that the state’s strategy has been effective.
The state continues to meet all its gating criteria for economic reopening, including the seven-day average for new cases, 91 in today’s modeling report.
