New Mexico health officials today reported 2,993 new COVID-19 cases, a staggeringly high number, but 18.5% fewer than yesterday. There have now been a total of 77,098 cases so far.
Bernalillo County had 1,005 new cases, followed by Doña Ana County with 281 and Sandoval County with 191. Santa Fe County had 170 new cases and the southside 87507 ZIP code, which had emerged with the third highest number of new cases in the state this week, today had the fifth highest number: 86.
There were also 19 additional New Mexico Corrections inmates reported positive today, as well as two more federal inmates at Otero County Processing Center, which now has had 893 cases between federal and state inmates.
With cases continuing to surge, the health department today announced five new COVID-19 testing sites, which open tomorrow, Nov. 21, and will run for approximately the next seven days (except for Thanksgiving). People must pre-register for a test at www.doineedacovid19test.com. The five sites include a new location in Santa Fe at the Santa Fe County Fairgrounds, 3229 Rodeo Road.

The state also announced 23 additional deaths today, including two residents at the Kingston Residence of Santa Fe facility: one man in his 80s and one woman in her 90s. Santa Fe County has had 26 deaths so far; there have been 1,325 fatalities across the state.
